Materials Inventory of the Distribution System:
The City of Ruston has approximately 180 miles of water lines in its distribution system with approximately 9500 meter connections. Of those 180 miles approximately 1.4 miles are PE, 9.3 miles are C900, 77.21 miles are cast iron, and 92.8 miles are PVC.
Our 5/8x3/4" and 1" meters are Sensus model SRII which are low lead and are compliant with key legislation including (1) Federal Safe Drinking Water Act 1974 SDWA, (2) Federal Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act 2011
Our meters 2" and larger meters are Sensus model C2, T2 which are lead free and constructed with coated ductile Iron
We estimate that out 5,298 single-family houses that are inside the Ruston area 3,744 of those were built before 1983.
Within the water distribution system are items that contain some of the following Lead and Copper:
* Internal fire hydrant components prior to 2014
* Brass fittings installed before 2014 that contain lead alloy.
* Copper service lines.
* Customer homes with lead components and lead solder plumbing fixtures.
* Customer Homes with copper plumbing fixtures and piping.
