The Animal Control Department is committed to the humane treatment of animals within the Ruston city limits through the operation of the Ruston Animal Shelter, public education, and enforcement of city and state laws.
Ruston Animal Control officers investigate reports of animal cruelty, barking dogs, aggressive animals, livestock running at large, and other nuisance animals within the city limits. Live humane traps are available at no cost for use by Ruston residents. Animal Control officers monitor these traps and typically impound trapped animals on weekday mornings. Staff also remove deceased animals from roadways within the city limits.
